Tehran: The Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that UN Security Council Resolution 2231, issued in 2015, regarding the nuclear program, officially expired on Saturday, October 18, stressing that "all restrictions and mechanisms associated with it are void."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry emphasized in a statement that the Iranian nuclear issue must be removed from the Security Council's agenda under the "non-proliferation" item. It noted that Iran's nuclear program should be treated like any nuclear program of a non-nuclear-weapon member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

The statement strongly criticized the three European countries - Germany, France, and Britain - and accused them of misusing the dispute resolution mechanism in the nuclear agreement at the direction of the United States, considering these actions "legally invalid and without effect."

Tehran also called on the UN Secretary-General to correct what it described as "incorrect information" published on the UN website regarding the re-imposition of previous sanctions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi officially informed the United Nations of the expiration of Security Council Resolution 2231 of 2015, related to the nuclear agreement, stressing that the resolution and all previous sanctions associated with it legally expired on October 18, 2025, in accordance with its explicit provisions.
