Maysan: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani underscored the indispensability of the rule of law and state institutions, asserting their preeminence over tribal roles.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during a meeting with several sheikhs and dignitaries of the Al-Sawaed tribe in Maysan Governorate, Al-Sudani highlighted the significant role tribes have played throughout Iraq’s history. He acknowledged their crucial contributions during pivotal moments, particularly their response to the call of the supreme religious authority in the fatwa of sufficient jihad. Al-Sudani remarked on the substantial sacrifices made by tribes for the state’s security, stability, and the enforcement of law.
