Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani emphasized the significance of electricity transmission and distribution projects in enhancing the national grid’s performance.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the inauguration of the 400 kV line in Maysan, Al-Sudani highlighted the government’s focus on the energy sector, particularly the need for increased production projects and the development of distribution and transmission capabilities. He remarked that the new line’s opening would strengthen connections between the southern and central regions, ensuring more stable electricity supply to Al-Bateera, West Amara, and central neighborhoods.

The Prime Minister noted that this project is part of a trio of lines, mentioning that the Qurna-Amara (400 kV)/83 km line is expected to be operational within days, while the Maysan-Kut (400 kV)/200 km line is 75% complete. He elaborated that efficient energy management and distribution are crucial for minimizing losses, conserving energy, and ensuring system efficiency, especially during peak demand periods.

Prime Minister Al-Sudani launched the (400 kV) line operation, capable of transmitting (1,000 megawatts) over a (52) km stretch from the Amara power station in Al-Kahla district to the Maysan secondary station in Al-Bateera district.
