Baghdad: Minister of Water Resources, Awn Dhiab, affirmed that “the memorandum of understanding with Turkey establishes clear water management.” Dhiab stated in a press conference that “the Turkish Parliament ratified a memorandum that includes providing Iraq with a reasonable and fair share of water.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dhiab explained that “agriculture consumes more than 70 percent of the water of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.” The Minister of Water Resources indicated that “Turkish companies will compete according to Iraqi laws, and we will select the best offers submitted by Turkish companies to implement the projects.”
