Baghdad: Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari met with British Ambassador to Baghdad, Irfan Siddiq, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in supporting the Ministry’s work, particularly in enhancing border security and civil defense.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry stated in a press release: “During the meeting, they discussed strengthening cooperation and friendship between Iraq and the United Kingdom, and addressed a number of issues of mutual interest, including enhancing bilateral cooperation in supporting the Ministry’s work, especially in strengthening border security and civil defense, exchanging expertise, and developing capabilities.”
The Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Interior has developed civil defense capabilities by establishing specialized centers and working to reduce response times to incidents, in addition to providing the Border Guard Command with the necessary equipment and cameras, which are among the most advanced in the world.
For his part, the Ambassador affirmed his country’s commitment to building effective strategic partnerships with Iraq and developing bilateral relations.
