Erbil: Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani expressed his gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the “democratic process.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Barzani stated, “Thanks to God’s grace and guidance, the voting process for the federal parliamentary elections has been successfully completed. I extend my sincere congratulations to the Iraqi people in general and the people of Kurdistan in particular for their active participation in this democratic celebration.”
Barzani commended the efforts of the Independent High Electoral Commission and all branches of the security forces, including the Asayish, police, and Peshmerga, for their professional and responsible work in securing the electoral process and ensuring its integrity. He also praised the role of local and international observers in monitoring the voting process.
He emphasized the importance of respecting the voters’ voices and safeguarding their trust, calling on the elected representatives to be “a true embodiment of the people’s will and to work diligently to defend the constitutional rights of the people of Kurdistan and preserve its constitutional entity.”
The Prime Minister concluded his statement by expressing “hope that the results of these elections will usher in a new era for a federal, democratic Iraq governed by justice, contributing to improving the lives of citizens, strengthening the Kurdistan Region’s position, and resolving outstanding issues with the federal government in a fundamental manner, in accordance with the constitution and signed agreements.”
