Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed that “the high voter turnout in the elections is a further success on the path to restoring citizens’ trust.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani stated in a post on the website /X/: “Our noble Iraqi people are taking another step towards protecting their constitutional democratic system by exceeding 55% voter turnout in the parliamentary elections.”

He added: “This is a further success on the path to restoring citizens’ trust, which we have placed at the top of our government’s priorities.”

He continued: “Our commitment to making a difference in the field and fulfilling citizens’ aspirations has, thank God, borne fruit today through this conscious and responsible participation of our noble people, who deserve appreciation and gratitude. All credit is due to them for the continued progress, the escalating pace of achievement, development, and economic growth in our country.” The Independent High Electoral Commission announced earlier this evening that the number of participants in the special and general voting reached 12,003,143 voters, representing a turnout exceeding 55 percent.
