US Aircraft Carrier USS Gerald R. Ford Arrives in the Caribbean Amidst Dangerous Escalation

Maysan: Amid escalating tensions with Venezuela, the US Navy announced the arrival of the US aircraft carrier strike group, led by the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, in the Caribbean Sea.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Navy stated in a press release: “The US aircraft carrier strike group, led by the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78), transited the Anegada Passage and entered the Caribbean Sea on November 16.”

The aircraft carrier has a crew of 4,000 and also carries dozens of tactical aircraft.

In late October, US Secretary of Defense Pete Higseth ordered the deployment of the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group to the US Southern Command in Central and South America.
