Baghdad: Speaker of Parliament Mahmoud al-Mashhadani congratulated the national football team on its victory over the UAE and its qualification for the World Cup playoffs.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Mashhadani affirmed that this achievement reflects the will and competitive spirit of the Iraqi players. He highlighted the significant role played by Basra Governorate, the Iraqi Football Association, and the government through logistical, public, and organizational support, which contributed to the success of the match and presented a positive image of Iraq in hosting sporting events.

Al-Mashhadani also commended the widespread public support that bolstered the team, expressing his wishes for the players and coaching staff to continue their success and victories, and to raise the Iraqi flag high in all sporting arenas.
