Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran and continuing consultations and coordination on various issues of common interest. The Presidency stated in a press release that President Dr. Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Mohammad Kazem Al-Sadegh, at Baghdad Palace on Tuesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement added that at the beginning of the meeting, the Iranian Ambassador offered his condolences to the President on the death of his brother, the late Shamal Jamal Rashid, praying to God Almighty to grant the deceased His abundant mercy and inspire his family with patience and solace.

For his part, the Iranian Ambassador expressed his thanks and gratitude to the President, affirming his country's desire to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation with Iraq to encompass various fields, serving the higher interests of the two neighboring countries.
