7.6 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Northern Japan


Baghdad: The Japan Meteorological Agency announced a 7.6 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Aomori Prefecture in northern Japan, prompting authorities to issue an immediate tsunami warning.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Agency explained that the earthquake’s depth was approximately 50 kilometers, and that the warning covers the northeastern coast, where tsunami waves could reach heights of up to 3 meters. The warnings cover the entire northeastern coastline.



Seismologists urged residents of coastal areas to immediately evacuate their homes. No reports of damage or injuries have been received so far.
