President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid Stresses Iraq’s Stance Against Sovereignty Violations in Meeting with Iranian Counterpart

Ashgabat: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid engaged in discussions with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at his residence in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, during the International Forum on Peace and Confidence. The meeting underscored the mutual commitment of Iraq and Iran to enhance bilateral relations and cooperation, aiming to serve the interests of both nations and contribute to regional security and stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the presidential statement highlighted that the leaders focused on the importance of continuous coordination between Iraq and Iran as a significant element in addressing regional challenges. President Rashid reaffirmed Iraq's firm opposition to any aggression or violation of national sovereignty, advocating for peace and dialogue as the preferred means to resolve ongoing issues and safeguard collective interests. He expressed Iraq's readiness to support any regional or international initiatives that promote stability and prevent escalation.

The discussion also covered various regional and international topics, with particular attention to the situation in Gaza. Both leaders expressed unified views on the necessity of recognizing the Palestinian people's legitimate rights to establish an independent state. They also called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people.
