Baghdad: The Southern Transitional Council in Yemen confirmed the death of five of its soldiers in an attack in Hadramawt Governorate, in the east of the country.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a statement, the Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council, Faraj al-Bahsani, expressed sorrow over the loss of the soldiers from the Hadrami Elite Forces. The soldiers were killed in an ambush by rebel forces in the Ays Khard area near the city of al-Shihr in Hadramawt.
Al-Bahsani mentioned that the soldiers died while fulfilling their duties related to security, stability, public order, and defending the state’s authority and law. He did not specify the exact time of the incident. Recent days have seen clashes between the Southern Transitional Council forces and the Hadhramaut Tribal Alliance forces, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.
