Quneitra: Israeli forces arrested five young men from Syria’s Daraa province on Sunday while they were in the village of Kodna in the southern Quneitra countryside, searching for mushrooms in agricultural lands. This comes as the Israeli army spokesperson announced that the 55th Reserve Brigade had completed its mission in southern Syria after nearly three months of continuous field activity.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement issued by the army indicated that the brigade’s forces operated under the command of the 210th Division and carried out military missions in and around the Golan Heights, as well as in various areas of southern Syria. The statement described these activities as “defensive activities and diverse field operations aimed at deterring threats and protecting Israel’s northern borders.”

The announcement came amid escalating tensions in southern Syria, where the Israeli army has intensified its operations in recent months, under the pretext of combating the Iranian presence and its allied militias. The Syrian government accuses Israel of continuing its aggressive policies and violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement by incursions into southern Syria and attacks on civilians.

Syria consistently demands the withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory, asserting that all actions taken by Israel in southern Syria are null and void and have no legal effect under international law. It calls on the international community to uphold its responsibilities, deter Israel’s practices, and compel it to withdraw completely from southern Syria and return to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
