Basra: Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani confirmed that he will remain in his position and will not be running for parliament to serve the province.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Eidani stated in a press release that he opted to stay in his role to continue the construction and development initiatives in Basra. He emphasized the importance of fulfilling the promises made to the people of the province, aiming to transform Basra into a city that can compete with world-class cities.

Al-Eidani also announced that Jihad Al-Abadi, a notable figure in the province, will take his place as Basra’s representative in the parliament. In the last parliamentary elections, Al-Eidani, the head of the Tasmeem list in Basra, garnered 50,572 votes, while Jihad Saddam Muftan Muhaysin Al-Abadi received 6,775 votes, securing his position as the successor to Al-Eidani in the upcoming parliament.
