Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani has ordered the establishment of a high-level committee, led by the Minister of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities, to investigate the reasons behind the delays in the Al-Ward City project. The committee will include several relevant ministries and departments from the Baghdad Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Sudani’s media office issued a press release stating that the Prime Minister chaired a meeting focused on the Al-Ward City project, which is located southeast of Baghdad. Attendees included the Governor of Baghdad, representatives from the Ministries of Construction, Housing, Municipalities, and Electricity, the New Cities Authority, various advisors, and representatives from the company tasked with implementing the project.

The press release further detailed that the meeting addressed administrative and technical issues affecting the project. Discussions centered on significant obstacles such as the main road connecting Baghdad to Al-Ward City, the ring road surrounding the city, water and electricity connections, infrastructure routes, and solutions for the drainage systems around the project site.

Prime Minister al-Sudani stressed the project’s importance as a critical response to Baghdad’s housing crisis, given its status as the most densely populated city. He instructed officials to promptly resolve any obstacles impeding the project and to ensure its completion in accordance with the established standards.
