Parliament Announces Completion of Preparations for First Session of Sixth Term


Baghdad: The Secretary-General of the Council of Representatives, Safwan al-Jarjeri, confirmed today that preparations have been completed and the Council is ready to convene its first session of the sixth term tomorrow.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Jarjeri stated that all logistical procedures for holding the first session of the Council of Representatives in its sixth term have been completed. He added that the Speaker has reviewed the procedures taken by the General Secretariat of the Council of Representatives regarding tomorrow’s session.



The session is scheduled for Monday at 12:00 PM for the swearing-in of the representatives for the sixth term. The Speaker will then request nominations for Speaker of Parliament and the nominees for First and Second Deputy Speakers for a vote.



Al-Jarjeri clarified that the session must complete all procedures and items on the agenda, emphasizing that the session is limited to the elected representatives, and guests and journalists will not be allowed in the Parliament hall. The Media Department of the Council of Representatives published photos earlier today showing preparations for the opening session of the sixth parliamentary term, scheduled for tomorrow.



In a statement, the Media Department said that the General Secretariat of the House of Representatives has completed all organizational and technical preparations for holding the opening session of the sixth parliamentary term tomorrow at 12:00 PM.
