Caracas: The Sadrist Movement leader Muqtada al-Sadr commented on recent developments in Venezuela and the overthrow of President Nicol¡s Maduro’s regime, describing the events as carrying profound political and international implications.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a post published on his account on the ‘X’ platform, al-Sadr said that what took place in Caracas at the hands of former U.S. President Donald Trump constitutes a clear message about ‘globalization,’ which he said has long been, and continues to be, a goal of global arrogance.

He noted that the message is directed not only at opponents of U.S. policies, but at the international community as a whole, particularly in light of what he described as an arrest operation carried out by Trump that may violate international law.

Al-Sadr added that the events serve as a message to all international organizations and legal frameworks, including the UN Security Council, the United Nations, international courts, and human rights institutions.

He further stated that the developments also carry what he described as a ‘divine message,’ reflected in the ease with which governments fall and rulers are removed when corruption and wealth distract them from their people and their suffering, turning nations into oppressed and impoverished societies.

Al-Sadr concluded by saying that if the fall of Maduro and his rule came at the hands of an oppressor, then, as the saying goes, ‘the oppressor is a sword through which revenge is taken, and then revenge is taken from him,’ stressing that the fate of tyrants and the corrupt will ultimately be downfall-by the same means or by others known only to God.

He ended his statement with a prayer calling for oppressors to be preoccupied with one another, for nations to be spared their harm, and for countries to be freed from corruption, injustice, and moral decay.
