Moscow: Russia, France, and China condemned the US operation in Venezuela on Saturday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the United States to release Venezuela’s legally elected president, urging the international community to adopt a responsible stance that ensures adherence to international law and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. In an official statement, the ministry said that his detention constitutes a clear violation of international law and the principles of respecting state sovereignty, emphasizing “the need to respect the will of the Venezuelan people.” It warned that “continued political pressure could escalate tensions and undermine stability in the region.”

For its part, the French Foreign Ministry stated in an official statement that “the military operation that led to Maduro’s arrest violates the principle of non-use of force in international law,” adding that “Maduro’s seizure of power and violation of freedoms is a grave attack on the dignity of his people and their right to self-determination.” It explained that “no lasting political solution can be imposed on Venezuela from the outside; the people alone decide their future,” warning of “serious repercussions for global security from violating the UN Charter.” It added, “We adhere to the UN Charter as the permanent framework for international action.”

For its part, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated, “We are deeply shocked by the US strike in Venezuela and strongly condemn it,” emphasizing that “Washington’s hegemonic actions are a blatant violation of international law.” It further noted that “the US strike constitutes an attack on Venezuela’s sovereignty and a threat to peace and security in Latin America.”
