Washington: The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) announced on Sunday that Iraq ranked second among the largest exporters of crude oil to the United States last week.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the EIA reported in its statistics that U.S. crude oil imports averaged 4.332 million barrels per day (bpd) last week from nine major countries. This marked a decrease of 1.082 million bpd from the previous week’s 5.414 million bpd.

The EIA further detailed that Iraq’s oil exports to the U.S. averaged 357,000 bpd, an increase of 176,000 bpd from the previous week’s 181,000 bpd. This increase positioned Iraq as the second-largest supplier of crude oil to the U.S. for that week.

The EIA also indicated that Canada held the largest share of U.S. oil imports last week, followed by Iraq. Other significant suppliers included Saudi Arabia, Ecuador, and Venezuela. Additionally, U.S. crude oil imports continued from Mexico, Brazil, and Nigeria, while no oil was imported from Libya.
