Supreme Military Committee Announces Completion of Coalition Advisors’ Evacuation from Iraq

Baghdad: The Supreme Military Committee for ending the mission of the international coalition in Iraq declared today the successful completion of the evacuation of all military bases and command headquarters in official federal areas from international coalition advisors. The remaining personnel at Ain al-Asad Air Base and the Joint Operations Command headquarters have departed, and these locations are now fully under the control of the Iraqi security forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Committee explained that the Iraqi armed forces now have the necessary will and capabilities to establish security across the country. It emphasized that ISIS no longer poses a strategic threat and that the forces are capable of preventing any resurgence or infiltration across the borders.

The Committee further elaborated that the first phase of the international coalition’s mission in Iraq has concluded, marking a transition to a phase of bilateral security relations with the United States. This new phase will concentrate on military cooperation and enhancing the capabilities of the armed forces in equipment, armament, training, exercises, and joint operations to ensure sustained readiness against ISIS.

Additionally, the Committee highlighted ongoing coordination with the international coalition in the fight against ISIS in Syria, with logistical support facilitated through a base in Erbil. Joint operations will be conducted from Ain al-Asad Air Base when necessary. It underscored that Iraq’s military strength is vital for regional stability, protecting sovereignty, and building equitable security partnerships.

The Committee attributed this accomplishment to the Iraqi government’s political will, meticulous planning, and the dedicated national and professional effort of its forces. It paid tribute to the martyrs of Iraq and acknowledged the members of the armed forces stationed on the front lines and in military bases.
