Tehran: Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araqchi, in Tehran today to discuss bilateral relations. In a joint press conference with Araqchi, the Foreign Minister stated, “Our visit to Iran is based on the strong relations between our two countries in the economic, cultural, and other fields.” He added, “We have entered the stage of forming the Iraqi government, and it is essential to expedite this process.” He continued, “We emphasized the importance of continued communication between Iraq and Iran and how to address the current situation in the region.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Araqchi remarked on the discussion regarding cooperation with Iraq and the strengthening of trade relations. He added that efforts are underway to reach a joint security cooperation agreement with Iraq. Araqchi pointed out that Iraq has proven its ability to play a significant role in enhancing regional cooperation through dialogue. He explained that the withdrawal of foreign forces from Ain al-Asad Air Base is evidence of strengthening security cooperation with Iraq, noting that Iraq has demonstrated its capacity to play a vital role in bolstering regional cooperation through dialogue.
