Al-Sudani Leads Meeting to Advance Floating Gas Import Platform Project


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani chaired a meeting today, Sunday, dedicated to following up on the procedures related to the floating gas import platform project. The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Oil, Finance, and Electricity, the Director General of Ports, and a number of advisors and officials from the Ministries of Oil and Electricity.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed the progress of implementing the project contract with Excelerate Company, reviewing the preparations for the Khor Abdullah waterway to receive giant gas tankers.



The meeting also addressed the financial aspects and funding of the project related to imported gas, based on data presented by the Ministers of Oil and Electricity, as well as the preparations for the berths to receive the gas tankers.



The Prime Minister directed that the subcontracts for the project, which represents the first gateway to the world for importing gas using advanced technologies, be expedited, particularly those related to the pipeline company, in order to commence work within the framework of preparations for the coming summer and to provide gas to power plants.
