Cairo: The Iraqi Ambassador to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Dr. Qahtan Taha Khalaf, headed a delegation of permanent representatives of Arab states to the League during a crucial visit to China. This visit was organized in response to an invitation from the Chinese side to prepare for the impending second summit of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the delegation, led by Ambassador Khalaf, engaged in a series of official meetings and visits, including discussions with Miao Dewei, the Minister Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China. These meetings included Arab-Chinese political consultations aimed at exchanging views and ideas relevant to the preparations for the forthcoming summit, with the goal of strengthening the joint cooperation foundations between the two sides.
The delegation’s itinerary also included a meeting with the Deputy Mayor of Shanghai and a visit to the China-Arab Center for Reform and Development Studies at Shanghai Foreign Studies University. Furthermore, the delegation conducted field visits to various factories and key institutions to gain insights into Chinese experiences in development, technology, and industry.
During the meetings, Ambassador Qahtan Taha Khalaf highlighted that the visit, with its comprehensive agenda, reflects a mutual desire to enhance the level of Arab-Chinese relations. He stressed that Iraq, which currently holds the presidency of the Arab side, is dedicated to collaborative efforts with all Arab states and maintaining close coordination with China to ensure the success of the second summit of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum.
The Ambassador also reaffirmed the importance of the Palestinian cause and the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.
