The Judiciary Announces Legal Proceedings Against Transferred ISIS Detainees

Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council has announced the initiation of legal proceedings against members of the ISIS terrorist organization. These members are being transferred to designated correctional facilities following their relocation from prisons previously controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, this action comes in response to recent security developments in the Syrian Arab Republic. The Council has highlighted the importance of documenting and archiving terrorist crimes in coordination with the National Center for International Judicial Cooperation. This initiative aims to formally establish cross-border criminal acts, enhance international judicial cooperation, and ensure accountability for all suspects.

The Supreme Judicial Council has affirmed that all accused individuals, regardless of their nationality or their role within the terrorist organization, will be subject to the jurisdiction of the Iraqi judiciary. The legal procedures will be applied uniformly to uphold victims’ rights and reinforce the rule of law in Iraq.
