Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) confirmed that Gaza has become the most dangerous place in the world for journalists and humanitarian workers, noting that more than 230 journalists have been killed in the Gaza Strip.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini stated that preventing journalists from entering Gaza reinforces disinformation campaigns and extremist narratives. He emphasized the crucial role that Palestinian journalists play in covering the war’s effects on Gaza, highlighting their bravery and courage in conveying the human impact despite numerous challenges.
Lazzarini also pointed out that journalists work alongside humanitarian workers, and restricting their access to Gaza aims to discredit firsthand accounts and testimonies from international humanitarian organizations, as well as to dehumanize Palestinians.
