Baghdad: The US Central Command Air Forces announced on Tuesday the execution of intensive readiness drills in the US Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility amid tensions with Iran.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the multi-day exercise aims to demonstrate the ability to deploy and support combat air power in the region. The maneuvers focus on the rapid movement of personnel, aircraft, and operations from multiple contingency locations.
The training includes limited logistical support and the enhancement of integrated multinational command and control across a wide geographic area. US President Donald Trump had previously announced the deployment of US Navy ships toward Iran “as a precautionary measure.”
