A Demonstration in Baghdad to Protest Against US Interference and in Support of Iraqi Sovereignty

Baghdad: A demonstration began at the entrance to the Green Zone in Baghdad, protesting American interference in Iraqi internal affairs and attempts to impose dictates, and in support of Iraqi sovereignty.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the protest attracted a significant number of participants who gathered to voice their opposition to what they perceive as undue influence by the United States in the governance of Iraq. Demonstrators carried banners and chanted slogans demanding respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and self-determination.

The Green Zone, a heavily fortified area in Baghdad, houses several government buildings and foreign embassies, making it a symbolic location for the protest. Organizers emphasized the importance of national unity and the need for Iraq to chart its own course without external pressure. The demonstration remained peaceful, with a noticeable security presence ensuring the safety of participants.

The protest reflects ongoing tensions in Iraq regarding foreign involvement in the nation’s political and economic affairs. Participants reiterated their call for a foreign policy that prioritizes Iraqi interests and respects the country’s autonomy.
