Baghdad: Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari chaired the ninth periodic meeting of the National Standing Committee for Regulating and Confining Weapons to the State on Sunday, attended by all committee members and several commanders.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the minister’s office released a statement indicating that al-Shammari received a detailed briefing on the committee’s work and the progress achieved. He emphasized the necessity of maintaining a high pace in controlling unlicensed weapons and facilitating their registration for citizens.
The minister highlighted the importance of intensifying awareness campaigns and adhering to the regulations and procedures approved by the Ministry of Interior for weapons regulation. Discussions among the attendees focused on the success of the committee’s work in line with established plans designed to enhance the security and stability system and ensure the safety of society.
