Baghdad: The Euphrates General Company for Chemical Industries, operating under the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has announced a notable industrial milestone achieved with local expertise and resources. This project involved dismantling an outdated sulfuric acid plant and constructing a new facility utilizing advanced technology, aligned with approved environmental standards and requirements.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ali Qasim Al-Shammari, the company’s Director General, highlighted in a press release that the company’s engineering and technical teams successfully prepared the studies, designs, and plans for the new plant in collaboration with the consulting office of Al-Mustansiriya University. This initiative led to the creation of a fully integrated plant with modern equipment and systems, including a central control unit operating with dual absorption technology. The facility is designed to produce sulfuric acid with a capacity of 40 tons per day. Al-Shammari confirmed that the plan
t commenced operation in mid-September of last year and currently functions smoothly at full design capacity without emitting gases, adhering to the highest environmental standards while enhancing product quality and reducing production costs.
Al-Shammari also emphasized that this plant is unique in Iraq, employing this advanced technology. It has successfully met all contractual obligations to supply power plants and oil refineries. This achievement underscores the innovative potential of national talent and reinforces Al-Furat General Company’s status as a prominent national industrial entity.
