Baghdad: The President of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and Head of the Arab Journalists Federation, Moaid Al-Lami, has issued a call to journalists to select the most qualified and professional candidates in the forthcoming elections to best serve the journalistic community.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Lami made this appeal in a press statement ahead of the general electoral conference of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, which is set to commence shortly. He emphasized the importance of unhindered and independent voting by syndicate members holding practicing status.
Al-Lami urged his colleagues to vote for candidates who they believe are most capable of advancing the interests of journalists in the coming period, free from any external influence. He highlighted that choosing the right candidates is a reflection of their professional duty and commitment.
Reflecting on past achievements, Al-Lami mentioned the distribution of 20,000 residential land plots to journalists in Baghdad and other provinces. He noted that agreements have been reached with provincial governors to allocate the remaining plots in the near future. Additionally, new headquarters for syndicate branches have been established across all provinces, marking a first for the organization.
He also discussed ongoing efforts to enhance the financial incentive grant for journalists, recognizing it as a token of appreciation for their significant contributions and sacrifices.
Al-Lami assured that the upcoming conference will be conducted under strict judicial oversight and will be attended by Arab, international, and UN organizations. He encouraged participants to demonstrate a true democratic process in the elections, sending a positive message to the international community.
He concluded his remarks with a patriotic note, expressing hope for the continued success and resilience of Iraq and the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate.
