Ministry of Interior Mourns Fallen Officers in Holy Karbala Police Incident

Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior mourned today, Saturday, an officer and a policeman who were martyred while performing their duty in the Holy Karbala Governorate. The Ministry stated in a press release: “The Ministry of Interior, with great pride and honor, mourns two of its heroes who were martyred while performing their sacred national duty in the Holy Karbala Governorate.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the officers were executing judicial arrest warrants against a wanted individual when a security force from the Karbala Governorate Police was dispatched to carry out its duty following established legal and professional procedures. However, the suspect and his brother opened fire on the security force, resulting in the martyrdom of Major Salam Ahmed Mohammed and Commissioner Ali Jawad Aboush. The Ministry described the attack as a cowardly and criminal act that disregards the lives of citizens and security personnel.

The statement continued that, thanks to the courage and determination of the security force, the suspects were apprehended, and necessary legal measures were taken against them. They have been referred to the judiciary to receive their just punishment.

The Ministry of Interior affirmed its condolences and sympathies to the families, comrades, and loved ones of the two martyrs. It emphasized that the blood of the martyrs will remain a sacred trust upon their shoulders, and justice will prevail against those who undermine national security or attack the security forces.
