Diyala: A security force from Diyala Police arrested four individuals impersonating military personnel at a security checkpoint north of Baquba, the capital of Diyala Governorate.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Brigadier General Haitham al-Shammari, Director of Public Relations and Media for Diyala Police, stated that the arrests followed precise intelligence and information received from the Rapid Response Unit (911). The intelligence indicated the presence of individuals carrying forged officer IDs with the ranks of Major General, Brigadier General, Lieutenant Colonel, and First Lieutenant. These individuals were traveling in a civilian vehicle from one of the northern governorates towards Baghdad, passing through a security checkpoint on the Baghdad-Kirkuk road.
He added that a specialized security team was formed and successfully arrested four individuals traveling in a white Hyundai Accent. During the arrest, pistols and military badges were found in their possession.
Further investigation revealed that the accused were civilians carrying forged military IDs of varying ranks in an attempt to impersonate military personnel. A number of forged IDs and military badges were seized from them, and they claimed affiliation with a unit of the Ministry of Defense, specifically the Popular Mobilization Forces.
He indicated that the necessary legal procedures were being taken against them in accordance with due process, and they were referred to the competent authorities for investigation.
