Kirkuk: The Military Intelligence Directorate confirmed on Sunday that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle industrial and food products into Kirkuk Governorate.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the directorate indicated that, “Following directives from the Director of Military Intelligence, and through a precise operation based on accurate intelligence and field monitoring by the Director of Intelligence and Security for the 8th Mechanized Infantry Division, an attempt to smuggle industrial and food products into Kirkuk Governorate from another governorate was foiled.”

The statement added that, “The vehicles were seized, their drivers arrested, and they, along with the confiscated materials, handed over to the relevant authorities according to established procedures.”
