Baghdad: The Electoral Commission has announced the nomination of Hassanein al-Khafaji to fill a parliamentary seat in the House of Representatives. This nomination comes from the Reconstruction and Development Coalition list in Baghdad, following outgoing Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s decision not to take the constitutional oath and continue in his role.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Khafaji’s nomination serves as a replacement for al-Sudani, who had previously expressed his unwillingness to continue as Prime Minister. The General Secretariat of the House of Representatives has been informed of this development, ensuring a smooth transition in the parliamentary seat allocation.
