Ankara: The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, met with Turkish Minister of Defense, Yasar Gler, to discuss military and security cooperation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting, which was also attended by Iraqi Military Attach© in Turkey, Major General Khalil Kamal Al-Zubaidi, focused on bilateral relations and prospects for strengthening military and security cooperation. Key areas of discussion included border control, counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, and training and capacity building. This cooperation aims to enhance security and stability in border regions, serving the mutual interests of Iraq and Turkey.
The Ambassador highlighted Iraq’s significant efforts on behalf of the international community, particularly in transferring terrorists from Syrian prisons. He stressed the need for international support for Iraq and called on countries to repatriate their citizens, given the shared security threat.
Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Gler praised Iraq’s efforts in transferring terrorist prisoners from Syria, viewing it as an important step in bolstering regional security and supporting stability in the region.
