Al-Araji Stresses Urgent International Cohesion Against Terrorism in Meeting with Spanish Ambassador


Baghdad: National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji affirmed that the fight against ISIS remains ongoing, stressing that international cohesion in confronting terrorist groups is an urgent necessity.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Advisory announced that Al-Araji received the Spanish Ambassador to Iraq, Alicia Rico P©rez, on Monday. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and explored ways to strengthen them, particularly in the fields of information exchange, expertise sharing, and counterterrorism cooperation.



Al-Araji noted that Iraq continues to work with its partners and friends to restore calm and stability to the region by pursuing a balanced foreign policy with all parties. He also pointed out that Iraq has successfully repatriated all its nationals from Al-Hol camp except for one remaining batch. This success highlights the effective efforts made to rehabilitate and reintegrate returning families into Iraqi society, achieved through close cooperation with the United Nations and international humanitarian organizations.



He emphasized that Iraq seeks to create a secure environment supportive of development and investment, which requires addressing regional challenges and consolidating the foundations of stability and peace.



For her part, the Spanish ambassador expressed her country’s keenness to develop bilateral relations with Iraq, noting that cooperation with Iraqi authorities contributed to the repatriation of Spanish nationals from Al-Hol camp. She stressed that dialogue and diplomacy are the best means to restore calm in the region, praising Iraq’s pivotal role in promoting stability and reassurance.
