Baghdad: The Reconstruction and Development parliamentary bloc announced that it has submitted a package of 23 draft laws to the Speaker of Parliament for legislative review during the current session. The head of the bloc, MP Bahaa al-Araji, stated in a press conference on Monday, “We submitted these laws to the Speaker of Parliament, and approval was granted to include them on the agenda of the Legal Committee so they can proceed through the legislative and legal process. These include a draft law on reforming economic laws, a law establishing the National Water Council, and other laws concerning financial matters, improving the financial situation in Iraq, and ensuring fairness in the distribution of funds and resources among the provinces.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the submitted draft laws aim to address key areas such as economic reform and resource distribution across Iraq’s provinces. The proposed legislation includes a draft law focused on reforming existing economic laws to better suit the current needs of the country. Additionally, the establishment of a National Water Council is among the priorities, highlighting the necessity for sustainable water management strategies in Iraq.
Moreover, the package encompasses laws that deal with enhancing financial management and ensuring equitable distribution of financial resources. These measures are designed to improve the overall financial situation in Iraq and to guarantee that all provinces benefit fairly from the country’s resources. The bloc’s initiative reflects a concerted effort to address pressing economic and infrastructural issues through comprehensive legislative reform.
