Iraq and Saudi Arabia Discuss Border Security Coordination


Baghdad: Border Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Mohammed Abdul Wahab Sakr, met with the Deputy Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, to discuss strengthening coordination in border security and cooperation in training.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement by the Border Forces Command indicated that, “Representing the Minister of Interior, Border Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Mohammed Abdul Wahab Sakr, met with Prince Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf, Deputy Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in the presence of the Commander of the Saudi Border Guard and a number of officials.”



The statement added that, “The Commander conveyed the greetings of the Minister of Interior, emphasizing the deep fraternal relations between the two countries. During the meeting, a number of shared issues were discussed, including strengthening coordination in border security, cooperation in training, supporting digital transformation, and exchanging expertise to contribute to the development of security operations.”



In a related development, the Border Guard Commander, heading a high-level delegation from the Ministry of Interior, visited the Saudi Public Security Directorate, where he was briefed on its operations and advanced mechanisms for managing the security system.



The visit also included Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, where the Commander met with Iraqi students studying there, commending their efforts and perseverance, and emphasizing the importance of utilizing modern security sciences and knowledge to serve Iraq and enhance its security and stability.
