President and Speaker Emphasize Prioritization of National Interest and Constitutional Entitlements


Baghdad: President of the Republic Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid and Speaker of the Council of Representatives Haibat Al-Halbousi stressed the importance of prioritizing the supreme national interest and resolving constitutional entitlements to address the current challenges facing the country.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid received on Tuesday at Baghdad Palace the Speaker of Parliament, Haibat Al-Halbousi. The meeting reviewed recent political developments and the overall situation in the country.



Both sides emphasized the need to unify national efforts, prioritize the national interest, and expedite the completion of constitutional requirements to ensure political stability and strengthen institutional governance.



The meeting also addressed legislative affairs, with the President affirming the Presidency’s support for the pivotal role played by the Council of Representatives in passing key legislation. He underscored the importance of accelerating legislative work in line with the current phase and the aspirations of citizens.



For his part, the Speaker of Parliament highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the legislative and executive authorities, stressing Parliament’s commitment to fulfilling its legislative and oversight duties in a manner that serves the public interest and responds to present challenges.
