Egypt Urges Ongoing Tehran-Washington Talks for Peaceful Resolution


Baghdad: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty emphasized on Tuesday the importance of continuing negotiations between Tehran and Washington to reach a peaceful settlement.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry stated in a press release that a telephone call took place between Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi “within the framework of efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and containing the situation in the region.”



The statement added: “The Iranian Foreign Minister briefed his Egyptian counterpart on the developments regarding the recent round of negotiations between the United States and Iran, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.”



The Egyptian Foreign Minister expressed his country’s full support for the negotiations and all efforts aimed at de-escalation and contributing to dialogue and the resolution of all concerns through diplomatic and political channels, thereby strengthening regional security and achieving stability and development for all the peoples of the region.



Abdel-Aty stressed the importance of continuing the negotiations between the American and Iranian sides, leading to a peaceful and consensual settlement that addresses the concerns of all parties, based on mutual respect and shared benefit, emphasizing the need to overcome any differences during this critical phase.
