Iraq and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Border Security Coordination


Baghdad: Iraq and Saudi Arabia have embarked on a significant initiative to bolster coordination in border security and enhance cooperation in training efforts. This development follows a strategic meeting between Iraq’s Border Forces Commander, Lieutenant General Mohammed Abdul Wahab Sakr, and Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister of Interior, Prince Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Ayyaf.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was held with the presence of the Commander of the Saudi Border Guard and several officials. During the discussions, Lieutenant General Sakr conveyed greetings from Iraq’s Minister of Interior, underscoring the robust brotherly relations between the two nations. Key topics included the enhancement of border security coordination, cooperation in training, support for digital transformation, and the exchange of expertise to advance security operations.



In addition to the meeting, the Iraqi delegation, led by the Border Guard Commander, paid a visit to the Saudi Public Security Directorate. There, they were briefed on the directorate’s operations and the advanced mechanisms employed in managing the security system. This visit further highlighted the commitment of both countries to modernize and strengthen their security apparatus.



The delegation also visited Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, where Lieutenant General Sakr met with Iraqi students. He commended their dedication and stressed the importance of applying modern security knowledge to benefit Iraq and enhance its security and stability.
