Baghdad: The Supreme Judicial Council hosted a joint meeting that included the Judicial Oversight Authority, the Forensic Medicine Department of the Ministry of Health, and Physicians for Human Rights. The Council stated in a press release: “During the meeting, the progress of the draft guide for documenting sexual assault crimes was reviewed, ensuring the strengthening of legal and medical mechanisms for documenting this type of crime according to established standards.”
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting was attended by key figures including the Head of the Judicial Oversight Authority, Judge Laith Jabr, Judicial Supervisor Judge Nasser Omran, and Public Prosecutor Anwar Hassan. Representatives from the Forensic Medicine Department, Dr. Lina Asaad and Dr. Hussein Falah, along with the organization’s Director, Saman Dhia, and international expert Abdul Razzaq Al-Saadi, participated in the discussions. Members of the organization’s specialized team were also present, indicating a collaborat
ive effort to enhance the documentation process.
