Mansoura University Honors Iraqi Journalist for Study on Burnout Among Iraqi Journalists


Baghdad: Mansoura University in Egypt has awarded journalist Heba Hussein a distinction degree for her academic study titled “Fatigue and its Relationship to Harm Avoidance among a Sample of Iraqi Journalists,” with a recommendation for the university to publish the study at its expense and exchange it with foreign universities.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the study, supervised by Professor Dr. Badriya Kamal Ahmed, former Head of the Psychology Department at Mansoura University, aims to explore the relationship between burnout and harm avoidance among Iraqi journalists.



The dissertation was evaluated by a committee of experts including Professor Dr. Emad Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim Mukhaimer, Professor of Abnormal Psychology and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Zagazig University, and Professor Dr. Mohamed Hussein Saad El-Din El-Husseini, Head of the Psychology Department at Mansoura University. The research investigates burnout and its correlation with harm avoidance among Iraqi journalists, drawing on theories from Stefan E. Hobfoll, Arnold B. Bakker, Evangelia Demerouti, and Cloninger CR.



Heba Hussein, a former member of the monitoring committee of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate Council and a journalist safety trainer at the International Federation of Journalists, has previously published research on related topics in local scientific journals. She has also contributed to research projects presented at international conferences and participated in workshops and courses at various Iraqi governmental and educational institutions. Her work has focused on psychological stress, harm avoidance, and crisis management among journalists and media professionals.
