EASA Issues Directive for European Airlines to Avoid Iranian Airspace

Brussels: The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has issued a new warning to airlines regarding the use of Iranian airspace, emphasizing the necessity for European carriers to switch to alternative routes. This directive is set to remain effective for airlines in European Union countries until March 31, 2026.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, EASA’s recommendation specifically advises against flights over Iranian airspace at altitudes below 25,000 feet. The warning arises from ongoing security risks and escalating tensions in the region, which pose potential threats to civil aviation safety. The agency has also urged airlines to exercise extreme caution when navigating Iran’s border regions with Iraq and the Gulf.
