Nechirvan Barzani and Mazloum Abdi Meet in Munich to Discuss Syria’s Political and Security Developments


Munich: President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, met today, Sunday, with Mazloum Abdi on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. They discussed the latest political and security developments in Syria and the region, as well as the situation of the Kurds and other communities in Syria.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Nechirvan Barzani emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and understanding to reach a political solution to the problems in Syria, one that guarantees the rights of the Kurds and all other communities within a unified Syria and in accordance with the country’s upcoming constitution.



For his part, Mazloum Abdi expressed his gratitude to Masoud Barzani and the Kurdistan Region Presidency for their ongoing efforts to de-escalate the situation and facilitate a ceasefire agreement between Damascus and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).



The risks of ISIS’s resurgence and the threat of terrorism were another focus of the meeting.
