Kuwait city: The Secretary-General of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Sheikha Al Nuwais, held a significant meeting with key Iraqi tourism officials on the sidelines of the 52nd UNWTO Regional Meeting for the Middle East in Kuwait. The meeting included discussions with the Chairman of the Iraqi Tourism Authority, Nasser Ghanem Murad, along with Ali Yassin, Director of the Public Relations, Media, and International Organizations Department, and Imad Sakban, Director of the Joint Ventures Department.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussions centered on a strategic plan aimed at enhancing the Iraqi tourism sector. The plan involves mechanisms for coordination and joint cooperation, aspiring to boost Iraq’s regional and international tourism presence.
A substantial part of the meeting focused on the significance of specialized training courses for tourism personnel. These courses are intended to emphasize sustainable tourism development, capacity building, and staying updated with global events and visions in the tourism industry.
Both parties expressed their commitment to expanding their partnership and enhancing technical cooperation. This initiative aligns with the United Nations’ objectives and Iraq’s vision for the tourism sector, aiming to bolster its contribution to the national economy.
