Iraqi Government Highlights Women’s Role in Digital Transformation

Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji has emphasized the Iraqi government’s commitment to addressing women’s issues, aiming to enhance their situation across multiple fronts. During the Digital Culture for Women Conference at Al-Nahrain Center for Strategic Studies, al-Araji underscored the government’s dedication to this cause, highlighting the launch of a National Strategy designed to foster women’s active involvement in state and societal activities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Araji noted the limited presence of women in technology-related fields such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. He acknowledged the potential for women to engage in these important sectors, even remotely, and emphasized their existing contributions as parliament members, ministers, ambassadors, and members of the judiciary. Al-Araji reiterated the importance of advancing women’s roles and tapping into their significant capabilities.

He further highlighted the necessity of digital transformation, framing it as an unavoidable requirement dictated by contemporary global changes. This transformation, he argued, demands the restructuring of work processes and the development of a workforce skilled in innovation and rapid decision-making. Al-Araji stressed women’s capacity to be influential partners in shaping the digital future, advocating for their empowerment as a means to expand human resource capabilities and boost institutional competitiveness.

Al-Araji also emphasized the need for an advanced digital educational and training environment for women and girls, supporting their entrance into technology, artificial intelligence, and programming fields. He concluded by asserting that comprehensive digital transformation requires societal partnership, with women playing a crucial role in this process. Their empowerment, he stated, is an investment in the nation’s strength and progress, as women possess the ability to drive transformative change.
