Jeddah: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi arrived in Jeddah this evening on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Egyptian Ambassador to Riyadh.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Mohamed El-Shenawy, stated that this visit comes within the framework of the two countries’ keenness to strengthen the historical fraternal relations that bind them, and to continue consultations and coordination on various regional and international issues of common interest.
The Egyptian Presidency did not announce the duration of the visit, but it coincides with Saudi media reports about the imminent launch of the Egyptian-Saudi electricity interconnection project. It also coincides with the US threatening a military strike against Iran, and Washington and Tehran heading towards a third round of negotiations, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman, in Geneva next Thursday.
