Al-Sudani Affirms Iraq’s Support for Palestinian Rights


Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s unwavering stance in supporting the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and rejecting the policies of settlement construction and collective punishment.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the affirmation came during a meeting between Prime Minister al-Sudani and the newly appointed Palestinian Ambassador to Iraq, Samar Awadallah. In a press release issued by his media office, the Prime Minister extended his congratulations to Ambassador Awadallah on her new role and reiterated Iraq’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.



The press release highlighted al-Sudani’s call for concerted regional and international efforts to halt violations that exacerbate tensions and crises, with potential repercussions on regional stability. The statement emphasized Iraq’s rejection of settlement policies and collective punishment as part of its commitment to Palestinian rights.



The Palestinian Ambassador, Samar Awadallah, conveyed the greetings of the Palestinian President and Prime Minister to al-Sudani and expressed gratitude for Iraq’s support. She acknowledged Iraq’s role in de-escalating tensions in the region and praised the country’s urban and developmental progress across various sectors.
